Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Anniversary to Our Parents, Bob and Roberta Timmons!!

We want to wish everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day. We also want to wish a Happy Anniversary and a Happy Valentine’s Day to our parents, Bob and Roberta Timmons, who were married on February 14th many, many years ago (they are fast approaching the big 50 year date!).

Looking for some ideas on how to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Take your sweetheart to The Smiling Daisy Cafe for a gourmet meal (scroll down the home page to view the Valentine’s Day menu) very close to home in Milford Center.

Yes, Milford Center for gourmet food.

The Smiling Daisy is in a small shop at 27 East State Street. Remember, good things come in small packages and this food is very good. Take your darling in for their Valentine’s meal that includes beef wellington, lobster, or truffled chicken. Delightfully, there is always a vegetarian option to choose, too. Chef Dale Romp has something for everyone to love.

Stop in to Mainstreet Treasures to pick up a box of Marie’s Candies for your Valentine.

Plain City Druggist has the best selection of 2 for $1.00 Valentine cards.

Don’t forget to send flowers to your sweetie! Browse all the Valentine’s selections available on the Plain City Florist web site HERE.

Spend Valentine’s Day close to home and find everything you need to make the day special by shopping locally. Be a sweetheart to your community, as well as to your beloved. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Pretty in Pink (Mom still LOVES Pink)

Date Your Sweetie in the “Date Night Challenge.”

Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church is hosting a “Couples Date Night” just in time for Valentine’s Day on Saturday, February 11 at 6:30 pm (should be done by 9:30 pm). This event is part of the “Date Night Challenge” which has been promoted in Marriage Magazine and is sponsored by Focus on the Family.

The challenge asks couples to go on three dates in three weeks (this amount of time is used because it takes 21 days to form a new habit–after three weeks of dating, it should be a habit).

The Couples Date Night at St. Joe’s provides you with Date Number One (good for those people who can’t think of anything to do besides watch sports on television). You don’t have to make any plans–just show up. The Couples Date Night will feature a 2-hour event showcasing comedian Jeff Allen, singer/songwriter Michael O’Brien, and Dr. Greg and Erin Smalley.

The Date Night will be at the Parish Activity Center (the PAC), 670 West Main Street, behind the Firehouse in Plain City on State Route 161 (which is Main Street). Please bring a snack to share. Coffee and pop will be provided. There is no cost to attend, but if you would like to make a freewill offering, your donation will help to offset costs associated with the program.

Make some good habits with the start of the new year. Fall in love with your sweetheart again through date nights!

Open House for Humane Society of Madison’s County’s New Building is Friday, February 10 to Sunday, February 12!

February 2012

Good-bye, Candace.

Joe and I and all of the staff at Plain City Druggist would like to send our condolences and prayers to the family of Candace Rucker, who died on Monday, January 23, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Anyone who knew Candace knows that she had the biggest smile and the most positive attitude of anyone you would ever want to meet.

One of our favorite memories of Candace occurred when she won an iPod during our Christmas under the Clock open house in 2008. She didn’t even really know what an iPod was (her kids did and they were very happy), but her enthusiasm and excitement over winning surpassed that of a million dollar lottery winner.

And that was how Candace approached life–with joy, excitement, and always a belief that she was a winner.

We will definitely miss her.
