Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging is Looking for a Few Good Seniors!

I recently had an email from Bonnie Ackerman at the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA), which each year chooses senior stars to honor. Bonnie wrote asking for nominations for the 38th Central Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. The deadline for nominations is extended this year to Friday, March 1, 2013. Each year the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA) recognizes 10 exceptional older adults for their special contributions after reaching the age of 60. Their inspiring stories demonstrate lifelong commitments to causes, organizations, and their communities and set an example for leading lives not defined by age.

Any individual or organization may nominate a resident of Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway or Union County. Nominees must be 60 years of age or older and a legal resident of Ohio for the past five years or longer. A married couple may be nominated for one award if both have been equally involved in the same activities and both meet the eligibility criteria.

For nomination forms, visit www.coaaa.org and click on Our Agency and Hall of Fame. Or call the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging at (614) 645-7250 or 1-800-589-7277. You can also go directly to the nomination form by clicking HERE.

The 38th Central Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Columbus. Inductees will receive personal recognition on stage from county commissioners and local dignitaries, followed by a reception with family and friends.

The Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging’s mission is to plan, coordinate, and advocate for the development and delivery of services for older adults, families and the community. Through leadership, funding and education, the COAAA supports individual choice, independence and dignity. More information is available at 1-800-589-7277 or HERE.

For additional information, contact Bonnie Ackerman, Hall of Fame Coordinator, Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, 174 E. Long Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215, 614-645-6149.
