Meet Our Second Student Pharmacist for August, Kevin Chang.

IMG_3258

Earlier in the week, we introduced you to our student pharmacist for August, Katy Hoffman. Today, we’d like to have you meet Kevin Chang, our second student from The Ohio State University’s College of Pharmacy. Both Katy and Kevin will graduate in May 2016 and begin their pharmacy careers. While they are with us, please extend a warm Plain City welcome to them.

Here is a bit about Kevin:

My name is Kevin Chang and I’m a pharmacist student from The Ohio State University. I was born and raised in Taiwan and then I moved to the United States and studied chemistry and biochemistry at Purdue University.

I was once a chemistry nerd and thought that I’d spend my whole life in the lab, but somehow I ended up in pharmacy…and I LOVED IT. Why? Well, you know sometimes there’s something you just like without any reason.

Currently, I work at Meijer Pharmacy in Grove City as an intern. In addition, I also work at the Medication Management Program at OSU, where I call people around the country to provide medication management services. I enjoy talking to my customers, knowing them by their life stories, and building good relationships with them.

When I’m not working, you will most likely see me playing bridge, eating with friends, or working in free clinics.

So that’s a short story about me. If you want to share some of your stories with me or if you just want to ask me some questions, please feel free to stop by Plain City Druggist and I’ll be here to talk to you!

Music in the Park will Feature Emerald City Swing Orchestra on Sunday, August 9 at 7 pm.

We have two student pharmacists from The Ohio State University’s College of Pharmacy for the month of August. Today we’d like to introduce you to Katy Hoffman. In a few days, we’ll let you meet Kevin Chang via a posting. Please stop in all month long and make Kevin and Katy feel very welcome during their month long rotation with us.

Here is what Katy has to say about herself:

Hello, everyone. My name is Katy Hoffman. I am a pharmacy student from The Ohio State University and I will be an intern at Plain City Druggist the whole month of August. I look forward to my time here this month and am happy to help with any of your pharmaceutical needs.

I am from Fairfield, Ohio. Family means a lot to me. I have three older brothers and the most supportive and caring parents.

I have a 3-year-old American bulldog who likes to keep me on my toes with all of his crazy shenanigans.

I recently became engaged to my boyfriend of three years and am excited for all the wedding planning.

I have always loved learning and thought about becoming a teacher up until my high school chemistry class. That’s when I started thinking about a career in the medical field, specifically, pharmacy.

After high school graduation, I moved to Columbus to become a Buckeye and attend The Ohio State University. I received Bachelor degrees in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences and then started the Doctorate of Pharmacy program.

Chemistry is what got me interested in pharmacy, but helping people is why I stayed interested. My experiences in community pharmacies have been very positive and I would be happy to continue a career in the community setting. However, my dream pharmacy job would be to work in a primary care physician’s office and help manage certain chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart failure.

When I’m not in the pharmacy, I like to play games and will frequently host game nights. Some of my favorite games are: volleyball, Mario Party, Trivial Pursuit, fantasy football, Scene it, and Pandemic. I also enjoy making various crafts. My latest endeavor has been crafting jewelry. I am a huge football fan and love the Ohio State Buckeyes and Green Bay Packers. I am very excited for football season to start.

I hope to meet all of you during my time at the pharmacy. Stop by and I will be happy to help you in any way I can.
