Meet Our Student Pharmacist for September, Sarah Mietz.
We are so lucky to have a student pharmacist this month from The Ohio State University’s College of Pharmacy. Sarah Mietz is a fourth year student who will graduate in May 2017 and then go on to practice as a pharmacist. In this posting, we’d like to introduce you to Sarah, so you will know a bit about her when you stop in the pharmacy throughout September.
My name is Sarah Mietz and I am a fourth year pharmacy student at The Ohio State University. I grew up in a small town outside Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York.
I completed my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at State University of New York at Geneseo (SUNY Geneseo). While at SUNY Geneseo, I instructed a general chemistry laboratory course and completed research in physical chemistry. I had always been attracted to the healthcare profession, wanting to use my knowledge to impact patient care. At the suggestion of an advisor, I researched the profession of pharmacy and decided it would be a great career to pursue my passions.
After moving to Columbus for pharmacy school, I worked at Mount Carmel New Albany Surgical Hospital as an intern for two years. I was also a pharmacy student coordinator at Physician’s Care Connection, the largest free clinic in Franklin County. Following graduation, I hope to complete two years of pharmacy residency. My current interests include informatics, cardiology, and critical care.
I am excited to be at Plain City Druggist this month and learn about independent pharmacy and compounding medications. Please stop by and say hello!
