Please Welcome Our Student Pharmacist for the Month of February, Laura Lasonczyk, From The Ohio State University.
We have two new pharmacy students with us for the month of February. First, we’d like to introduce you to Laura Lasonczyk (pronounced Lass-un-check). Laura is from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. Laura will graduate in May and will then take the test to become a licensed pharmacist.
Here is what Laura has to say about herself:
My name is Laura Lasonczyk (pronounced Lass-un-check) and I am a fourth year pharmacy student at Ohio State. I am excited to be on rotation at Plain City Druggist for the month of February.
I am originally from Mason, OH (where King’s Island is), but have lived in the Columbus area ever since my undergrad time at OSU. I have my Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Ohio State and will be graduating in May with my PharmD.
I have worked for a grocery chain pharmacy for over six years and love interacting with patients in the retail setting. I have not worked in an independent pharmacy setting before, but look forward to the opportunity.
I chose pharmacy as a profession for many reasons. I have always had a fondness for science and knew that I wanted to be in a science-involved field. I also have always loved serving others and building lasting relationships with people (I was actually in a service fraternity in undergrad). I feel that pharmacy, especially retail pharmacy, is a perfect combination of all of these things. Thus, I hope to stay in the retail pharmacy field after graduation, whether it is with a chain or an independent, such as Plain City Druggist.
When I am not busy with school or work, I enjoy working out and training for marathons. I have run three marathons so far and hope to run the Columbus marathon again this October. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, including participating in a monthly euchre card club.
Feel free to say hi to me in the pharmacy! I would love to get to know some of you this month!
