Meet Our Student Pharmacist for September, Chris Santos.

This month, we are joined in the pharmacy and lab by Chris Santos, a fourth year pharmacy student from The Ohio State University’s College of Pharmacy. Chris will graduate in May 2018 and will then take the exam to become a registered pharmacist. Chris will be with us throughout September, so please stop by and meet him while he is in the store. Show him the Plain City hospitality!

Here is what Chris tells us about himself:

My name is Christopher Santos, and I am a fourth year pharmacy student at The Ohio State University. I am looking forward to being closely involved with Plain City’s community. I will be at Plain City Druggist every day for the entire month of September!

I was born and raised in The Bronx, one of the five boroughs of New York City. I received my undergraduate degree from The State University of New York at Geneseo in 2014.

I love the city of Columbus as there are many great spots to explore—city wide events, restaurants, and hiking trails. In my free time, I enjoy having a baseball catch, working out, and reading books.

I currently intern at a community specialty pharmacy. At the specialty site, we work closely in helping improve the overall health outcomes of patients dealing with highly complex disease states. I hope to transfer those skills to Plain City Druggist and improve the community’s wellness and healthiness through weekly blogs.

Plain City Druggist will be my first independent pharmacy experience. I am excited to see a different side of community pharmacy practice and explore all of the unique services we can offer. If you see me inside the store, please say hello! I would love to meet you!

The Orchard and Company is Open Weekends in September and October Beginning September 9.

The Orchard and Company, a family friendly destination, will be open from 11 am-6 pm, September weekends beginning this weekend on the 9th and every Saturday and Sunday the entire month of October through October 29th.

The Orchard and Company features, not only an apple orchard, but also many exciting activities meant to entice visitors from Plain City and across the state. With a gift shop, bakery, and “Pigadeli Café” on site, shoppers and hungry visitors will find seasonal treasures and edible goodies galore.

You can also take part in the “U-Pick Apples” as different varieties of apples become ready for picking. Check out the web site HERE for picking schedules, pricing, and the type of apple that is ready to pick.

For children, there are tons of fun activities that will keep them on the move, including a pedal car track, tire climb, jumping pillow, zip lines, wagon rides, and more. If the kids aren’t tired after a day at The Orchard, they must be robots!

The Orchard and Company is located south of Plain City at 7255 US Highway 42 North at the intersection of US Highway 42 and Price Hilliard Road, just a short, scenic drive from Columbus, London, Marysville, or Dayton. They are located across the road from Canaan Middle School.

The Orchard and Company would also like to encourage bicycle aficionados to ride out. The Orchard and Company is only a few miles from the Heritage Rail Trail’s endpoint on Cemetery Pike in Plain City.

An Orchard Festival Farm Yard day pass is $10.00 for adults and children (3-18), $5.00 for seniors. Children two and under receive free admission.

Fishing in The Orchard’s pond requires an additional $2. Gem Mining to search for “pay dirt” gems is $5.00, while a hunt for fossils is $6.00.

The Orchard and Company can also accommodate large groups and parties. Contact The Orchard for a place to host school outings, birthday parties, reunions, weddings, company meetings, and other special occasions.

Meet Our Third Year Student Pharmacist for the Months of September and October, Victoria Williams.

During September and October, we will be joined in the pharmacy and lab by Victoria Williams, a third year pharmacy student from The Ohio State University’s College of Pharmacy. Victoria will be with us part-time throughout September and October, so please stop by and meet her while she is in the store. Show her the Plain City hospitality!

Here is what Victoria tells us about herself:

Hi, everyone! My name is Victoria Williams and I am a third year pharmacy student from The Ohio State University. I will be on rotation with Plain City Druggist part-time during the months of September and October. I am very excited to be so warmly welcomed to the Plain City Druggist team and look forward to learning from this highly qualified staff in the many weeks to come.

I am originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area, but have been in Columbus for the last six years. I came to Ohio State in the Fall of 2011 to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences and decided to stay at OSU for my Doctor of Pharmacy degree. I have fallen in love with Columbus throughout my time here and now consider myself a Buckeye for life!

In my free time, I enjoy going to OSU football games, spending time with friends and family, and exercising. I actually teach cycling and strength group fitness classes at OSU’s campus recreation center!

I currently hold two pharmacy internship positions. I work at Riverside Methodist Hospital where I complete a variety of tasks from compounding IV medications to assisting with dosing warfarin and everything in between. This past summer I also started working at The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center in their nuclear pharmacy. My duties there are varied, but I spend a lot of my time drawing up radioactive doses of medications that are used in various imaging scans, like a “stress test” to look at your heart.

Thus, I have a lot to learn about the type of pharmacy practiced at Plain City Druggist as it is unique to me and I am so excited to do so! In the few hours I’ve already spent with the Plain City Druggist team, I have been very impressed with the level of efficiency and customer service at this pharmacy.

Thank you for welcoming me to your community. I look forward to meeting you soon!
