Please Welcome Student Pharmacist Cassadie Baker for Her November Rotation from The Ohio State University!

IMG_5645

This month, we are joined in the pharmacy by Cassadie (Cass) Baker, a fourth-year pharmacy student from The Ohio State University’s College of Pharmacy.

Cass will graduate in May 2021 and will then take the test to become a registered pharmacist. Cass will be with us throughout November, so please stop by and meet her while she is in the store.

Here is what Cass tells us about herself:

Hello! My name is Cass Baker, and I am a fourth year student pharmacist joining the team at Plain City Druggist this month.

I was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ohio, and moved to Columbus about seven years ago to complete both my undergraduate and pharmacy studies at The Ohio State University. I was inspired to enter the STEM field by one of my high school chemistry teachers who left me a Post-It note in my lab notebook that I would do really well in college chemistry courses.

As I was completing my bachelor’s degree in chemistry and started working in labs as an assistant, I realized that I desired a career that involved talking to people more than a research position could offer. I chose to pursue a pharmacy career because it allowed me to help take care of patients in the healthcare field while using my background in chemistry and biochemistry.

I have worked as a pharmacy technician and as an intern at a CVS pharmacy in Hilliard for almost four years, and I am blessed to continue my career with CVS as a pharmacist upon graduation in May! Besides the business management skills that I have been grateful to develop, I have enjoyed applying the knowledge I’ve learned at school to answer questions that our patients may have. I’m very passionate about demonstrating how a community pharmacist can be a valuable resource for patients, and I hope to share this passion with the patients here at PCD.

Outside of school, I enjoy exercising a lot! I have enjoyed playing tennis since I was 10-years-old, and prior to the pandemic I had been training for each Capital City Half Marathon for the past three years. When I have free time, I also enjoy reading science fiction novels, practicing Spanish, solving puzzles, and going back home to BG to visit my family and my cat.

I am so excited to be here at PCD this month and I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can!
