The 30th Annual Dublin Irish Festival dances its way into the heat of August this weekend. The Festival runs from Friday, August 4 to Sunday, August 6. You can find a complete schedule of events online: Dublin Irish Festival

Tickets are $15 for adults at the gate. But if you purchase your tickets online until August 3, they are only $10. Children 12 and under are FREE. To buy online tickets, go HERE.

I have lots of memories of the Dublin Irish Festival. It has grown tremendously since we first started going there in 1996 (or close to it). It used to be a relatively small event, but it is so large now, you have to be bussed in from area parking lots. We actually haven’t been in a few years, because the crowds have become so massive and I also tend to wilt in the August heat. But I do love all things Irish! I am looking forward to going to see Mary Black perform this year on Saturday at 5:45 pm.

One of my favorite things to do at the Dublin Irish Festival, besides the music, is watching the Irish dancers. The Richens/Timm Academy of Irish Dance always features wonderful children and young adult dancers.

Additionally, if you enjoy traditional (and sometimes not so traditional) Irish music, there are always a ton of wonderful artists performing on various stages throughout the Festival. For a full list of groups that will be playing, please go HERE.

Looking for a kilt, Celtic artwork, or some lovely crystal? Now is the time to find it without crossing the pond. The Festival has a huge number of vendors selling anything and everything Irish. To see a complete list of marketplace vendors and what they sell, go HERE.

There will also be tons of food vendors, a Wee Folk Area, Celtic Canines, Celtic Sports, Beverage Tastings (of course!!), and even Sunday Mass Services (the Celts like to party, but they also give thanks for all God’s blessings).

May the sun shine warmly on your back this festive weekend (and it undoubtably will-so pick up some sun block at the pharmacy before you head to Dublin).

Join the Humane Society of Madison County at Slobberfest, Saturday, June 19, at The Pavilion at Coffman Park.

Slobberfest, a celebration of dogveristy (and cattitude) is being held again this year by the Humane Society of Madison County (HSMC) on Saturday, June 19 from 11-4 pm. The event will feature rescue groups, shelters, and vendors all gathered in The Pavilion at Coffman Park in Dublin (where the Dublin Irish Festival is held).

Slobberfest will once again feature an “adopt-a-thon” with many rescue groups bringing their adoptable dogs and cats (and bunnies–House Rabbit Society was there last year).

There will also be a Celebration Walk with registration from 11 am to 1:30 pm and the walk beginning at 2 pm. The walk is a “dog mile,” so we are assured that is not very long at all. It is $30 to register for the walk and you can do so at the event. Walkers will receive a goodie bag packed full of things for the animal lover and their animal friends.

Food will also be available for purchase and there will be many vendors selling lots of cool things.

Please let everyone know about this event, so there will be a large showing of people looking to adopt and buy items to support the work of local rescue groups and shelters.

For more information on Slobberfest, where you can spend a fun filled day with other animal lovers, visit the Humane Society of Madison County’s web site: HSMC
