Tim Day, who is working with us on the iShopCentralOhio.com web site, sent me over a photo of the “World’s Largest Jigsaw Puzzle” that he helped assemble. Tim, who lives in Plain City, also made the frame for the puzzle. For this huge frame, he chose wood that matched the woodwork in the area where it hangs in the Ronald McDonald House across from Children’s Hospital on Livingston Avenue in Columbus.

The puzzle, which has 24,000 pieces, features animals, the solar system, hot air balloons, the ocean floor, and a fleet of sailboats. The images are vibrant and gorgeous and Tim said many, many people have told him the puzzle brings tears to their eyes.

I did a bit more investigating on this puzzle and found that it has it’s own web site, complete with a Hall of Fame for people and groups who have been able to complete it. The puzzle picture was created by artist Royce B. McClure from many, many smaller paintings and is titled, “LIFE- The Great Challenge.” It is listed in The Guinness Book of World Record’s as the largest commercial jigsaw puzzle.
