Mainstreet Treasures is hosting their 2nd Annual Postcard Contest, which asks entrants to show “what makes Plain City special?”

Budding artists and photographers should drop their entries off (or postmark their mailed entries) by April 22 to Mainstreet Treasures at 150 West Main Street in Plain City. 

The contest features a Youth (under 18 years) and an Adult division, with at least one winner chosen from each division. A total of four winners will be picked and announced during Heritage Days in Plain City on May 21, 2011. As done previously, the winning postcards will be printed and sold at Mainstreet Treasures beginning on May 21. The winners will also receive a framed display of their postcard. 

This year, there will also be a People’s Choice Award. Stop in Mainstreet Treasures to find out how you can vote for your favorite entry. 

The entries must contain original artwork or a photograph and one line of text. Entries should show the unique qualities of Plain City and what makes our town such a great place to call home. Please no pencil drawings. Entries must be no larger than 8 1/2″x11″ and no smaller than 4″x6″.

Mainstreet Treasures is open 10 am to 7 pm on Friday the 11th and 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday the 12th.

Additionally, Mainstreet Treasures is also making FREE local deliveries of candy, gifts, and balloons for Valentine’s Day. There is a minimum order required, but we are sure that you will be spending big for your Valentine and that will not be a problem!

And once Valentine’s Day ends, get ready for the Launch Party of the new line of locally made Petalbags at Eldchrist Winery on March 4 from 6-9 pm. Eldchrist Winery is located at 8189 State Route 736 in Plain City.

Join Mainstreet Treasures on Thursday, January 27 from 4-8 pm for a Bauble LuLu Trunk Show. This was rescheduled from when we had the bad weather last week. You can buy “old beads” at “buy one, get one” pricing. You not only get to see the new items, but you get this super pricing on the old beads.

Mainstreet Treasures is also trying to support local artists and businesses with products made around Plain City. These include Petalbags by Carrie Schaefer, Lula Jo’s Aprons, Scroll Saw Art by Betty Norz, as well as other locally created photography, handcrafted jewelry and scarves, and handmade finger puppets.

Mainstreet Treasures, located at 150 West Main Street in downtown Plain City, has several unique shopping events coming up to put you in the holiday mood.

First off is the “Mystery Candy Bar Savings Event” on Black Friday, November 26. Stop in the store between 10 am and 4 pm and unwrap your candy bar to see how much you can save! Savings range from 10-40% off your entire purchase. You also get to keep the candy bar. There’s nothing better than combining candy and shopping!

On Tuesday, November 30, join Eldchrist Winery and Mainstreet Treasures for “Ladies’ Night” at the Winery from 6-9 pm. Eldchrist Winery is located at 8189 State Route 736 in Plain City. Pampered Chef and Essential Oils consultants will also be on hand to join in on the fun, prizes, and shopping.

Shop and Lunch with Mainstreet Treasures on Friday, December 3 from 11 am to 2 pm. Have lunch and earn a spin on the Prize Wheel for purchases of $25 or more. There will be tons of great prizes on the wheel.

Finally, join Mainstreet Treasures for their Open House during Christmas Under the Clock on Saturday, December 4! The tree lighting begins at 5 pm and Open Houses in area businesses will get under way at 5:30 pm.

Mainstreet Treasures is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. They are closed on Sundays.
