Author Beverly Lewis will Do a Book Signing on Tuesday, April 5 at 10 am at the Plain City Public Library.

On Tuesday, April 5, bestselling author Beverly Lewis will visit the Plain City Public Library for a book signing and discussion beginning at 10 am.

Ms. Lewis is on a 10 day, 22-stop book tour through Ohio and will be greeting fans as she promotes her new book The Atonement. Ms. Lewis is the person responsible for starting the “Amish fiction” genre with her 1997 book, The Shunning. Since then, she has sold over 20 million copies of her inspirational books.

The Friends of the Plain City Public Library will have a limited number of The Atonement available for sale at the event. If you would like to order a copy in advance, download the order form HERE. Please drop the form off at the Library or mail it to 305 West Main Street, Plain City, with payment by March 14. You can also call 614-873-4912, ext. 121 for more information.

You do not have to purchase a book, however, to attend this FREE event.

Take Your Child to the Library Day is Saturday, February 6.

On Saturday, February 6, the Plain City Public Library will celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day with a full day of fun, events, and giveaways.

LEGO Club will get the activities started at 10:30 am. Children 12 and under can build and create tons of neat things using legos. This is a monthly activity. No registration required.

After LEGO Club, stay for the Reading is Magic! Magic Show with Jim Kleefeld at 1 pm. All ages are welcome for this program that uses magic, comedy, and audience participation to show that reading is fun!

Throughout the day, there will be a Valentine’s Family Book Basket Giveaway. Every child will have a chance to win a basket of Valentine-themed books and items courtesy of the Friends of the Plain City Public Library.

Ghost Stories for Grown-ups at the Plain City Library on Monday, October 26 from 7-9:30 pm.

The Plain City Public Library will once again be hosting “Ghost Stories for Grown-Ups” on Monday, October 26 from 7 to 9:30 pm at the library on 305 West Main Street.

The Library will have light refreshments provided by the Friends of the Plain City Public Library and a mix of traditional and contemporary stories to be read aloud, accompanied by a slideshow of haunted places and fun trivia.

Join The Friends of the Plain City Public Library for a Book Sale on May 16-23 at the Library, 305 West Main Street.

The sale gets underway Saturday, May 16 at 10 am and will take place during normal library operating hours:

Monday-Thursday: 10 am – 9 pm
Friday: Closed
Saturday: 10 am – 6 pm
Sunday: Closed

There will be a Special Pre-Sale for Friends of the Library members on Thursday, May 14 from 6-8 pm.

Plain City Historical Society will Commemorate Lincoln Funeral Train on Wednesday, April 29.

To commemorate the 150th Anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s death and the passing of his funeral train through Plain City in 1865, the Plain City Historical Society will host a program at the former railroad station site between 8-9 pm on Wednesday, April 29 at 250 Maple Street in Plain City.

The ceremony will include bagpiper Drew Lear, local VFW and American Legion Honor Guard, as well as an address from retired Lt. General Charles E. Stenner. There will be a moment of silence at 8:45 pm (the time of the train’s arrival), followed by an Honor Guard rifle salute and the playing of “Taps” by trumpeter, Doug Weakley. Prior to the funeral train ceremony, attend a Civil War music performance by Steve Ball at 7 pm at the Plain City Public Library, 305 West Main Street. Once the concert is done, you can walk from the Library to the Historical Society’s program on Maple Street.

Musician Steve Ball will perform American Civil War music on an authentic 1860’s guitar.
