Join Us for Our Christmas Under the Clock Open House, Saturday, December 1 from 5:30-9 pm.

Please join us this Saturday, December 1, for our Open House and Customer Appreciation evening from 5:30-9 pm during Christmas Under the Clock. We will have lots of food (cookies–YUM) and the small glass bottles of soda that everyone loves.

We will also be signing folks up for the $500 VISA gift card that UPCO (Uptown Plain City Organization) and the Village of Plain City are giving away to one lucky winner. You can enter to win at all participating open house locations during Christmas Under the Clock. The more open houses you visit, the more chances you have to win. Pick up a map at the first open house you visit to locate all of the other places holding open houses where you can enter to win the gift card.

You can also get an extra ticket and chance to win the VISA card if you bring a non-perishable food item or toiletry to the Plain City Food Pantry, 156 West Main Street.

The drawing for the $500 gift card will take place at 9 pm at the Plain City Historical Society.

Here at the drugstore, we will also be giving away an iPod Touch (over a $300 value) to one winner, 12 years and older. So stop in and sign up to win the VISA gift card and an iPod Touch!

Robin Terry Yoders will also be in the store from 6-9 pm to sign her most current Christmas ornament, which features the Plain City Auction. If you have ornaments from previous years that you would like to have Robin sign, please bring them along. You will also be able to purchase ornaments from past years here in the pharmacy and at the Plain City Historical Society, 111 West Main Street (next to Security Bank), during the Christmas celebration. The ornaments are $25 each and are limited to 50.

While our open house kicks off at 5:30 pm, Christmas Under the Clock actually gets under way at 5 pm with the Tree Lighting Ceremony downtown in Bicentennial Park (the Flatiron). There will be local carolers, choirs, baton twirlers, the Jonathan Alder Band, and Santa himself at the Tree Lighting. The tree will be lit up by the Tree Lighting Ambassadors, winners of the Christmas Coloring Contest.

Once you’ve been dazzled by the tree lighting ceremony, head over to the Plain City Auction to bid on Christmas decorations and gift baskets. The bidding only lasts about an hour, so don’t delay. Proceeds from the auction will be split between UPCO and the Plain City Food Pantry.

You can then take a horse drawn wagon ride to Yoder’s True Value Hardware for photos with Santa. On your way, stop by the Plain City Library for live music with Classical Sounds and the Friends of the Library’s Book and Novelty Sale. The sale will include holiday novelties, as well as an enormous book sale in the library’s large meeting room. The sale will continue through December 8.

Rock on Ice will be doing ice sculpting in Bicentennial Park following the Tree Lighting.

We also want to send out a huge thank you to Julie Weaver for all that she does for Christmas Under the Clock and UPCO all year long. Julie took over on a lot of the Village activities a few years ago when Joe and I became a bit burnt out. So thank you, Julie, for keeping this wonderful tradition going! We appreciate all that you do so much!

2012 Robin Terry Yoders’ Ornament Features Plain City Auction House!

Robin Terry Yoders (Robin recently married) decided to feature the Plain City Auction House on her annual fundraising ornament. There are only 50 of these hand painted, signed, and numbered ornaments available. This ornament is the eleventh in the series.

A limited number of these ornaments are currently available, as well as ornaments from previous years that highlighted Plain City’s other historic buildings and sites, including Bicentennial Park (2003), Farmer’s Bank (2004), the Grandstand (2005), the Train Depot (2006), the Presbyterian Church (2007), the Methodist Church (2008), Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church (2009), Big Darby Baptist Church (2010), and Canaan Middle School (2011)

We also have burgundy ornaments from the Bicentennial in 2002 featuring the clock for $10. Please note, these ornaments are not part of Robin Terry Yoders’ series. They were made just for Plain City’s Bicentennial.

We currently have the 2012 Robin Terry Yoders’ ornaments here at the drugstore. They are $25 each and all proceeds benefit the Plain City Historical Society this year. We also have limited numbers of ornaments from 2003 to 2009. Unfortunately, the ornament that featured the Clock Building in 2002, and was the first ornament in the series, is no longer available, as it sold out. Ornaments from previous years are $25 each.

Ornaments from 2003 through 2009 can also be purchased at the Plain City Historical Society, located next to Security Bank at 111 West Main Street in downtown Plain City. The Historical Society is open Tuesdays, 10 am to noon; Thursdays, noon to 3 pm; and Saturdays from 10 am to noon. You can stop in during those times to purchase ornaments or stop by during Christmas Under the Clock.

Robin Terry Yoders will also be signing the 2012 ornament in the drugstore at Christmas Under the Clock on December 1 from 6-9 pm. Stop in and have Robin autograph your 2012 Plain City Auction ornament and also pick up any ornaments you may have missed  from previous years.
