Happy First Day Back on Campus for Our Ohio State Students.

slider-example_topten_1180

We want to wish our Ohio State College of Pharmacy students, Tayler, Jessica, Chris, Vivian, Emily, Maggie, and Tom a great first day of classes on August 22.

Chris, Vivian, and Emily work at Happy Druggist on Karl Road, while Tayler, Jessica, and Tom are the friendly faces that greet you in Plain City. Maggie works at Happy Druggist in West Jefferson.

Sadly, with the start of the semester, you probably won’t be seeing our loyal and devoted students in the drugstore except on Saturdays. Jessica and Chris are starting their third year of pharmacy school. Tom, Vivian, and Maggie are entering their second year. Emily is just starting her first year of pharmacy school.

Our fourth year student, Tayler, is off doing rotations with other pharmacies until graduation next May, so this really isn’t a back to school day for him.

Haley Green who works in West Jefferson will also be starting her first year of pharmacy school at Ohio Northern University on August 21.

We are also very proud to announce that L.P., Lauren Pullins, is doing her teaching rotation at West Jefferson schools this autumn before graduating from Ohio Dominican University. L. P. has been a lifesaver over the past year at Happy Druggist in West Jefferson and we don’t know what we would have done without her. We are going to miss her so much that we may have to go sit in some of her classes and harass her with silly questions.

We hope all of our students will have a wonderful autumn semester and a super school year in 2017-2018. We are very proud of all of you!

Meet Our Student Pharmacist for June, Mackenzie Piche’, from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy.

This month, we are joined in the pharmacy and lab by Mackenzie Piché, a fourth year pharmacy student from The Ohio State University’s College of Pharmacy. Mackenzie will graduate in May 2018 and will then take the test to become a registered pharmacist. Mackenzie will be with us throughout June, so please stop by and meet her while she is here. Show her the Plain City hospitality!

Here is what Mackenzie has to say about herself:

My name is Mackenzie Piché and I have just officially started my fourth and final year of the Doctor of Pharmacy program at The Ohio State University. I am so excited to be here at Plain City Druggist for the first of nine rotations that I will be completing prior to graduation next May. I will be here every day for the month of June and will also be completing a longitudinal project with PCD throughout the year.

I was born in Canada, but grew up in Perrysburg in northwest Ohio. I received my undergraduate degree in 2014 from Penn State University in State College, PA. It was awesome to live in a small college town for four years, but living in Columbus has been an exciting change. There is always something to do and plenty of great restaurants to try. In my free time, I like cooking (and eating, of course), working out, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

I currently work in a grocery store chain pharmacy. I love that working in a community pharmacy allows for plenty of opportunities to engage with patients. I am in awe of the positive impact that pharmacists have in the lives of patients every day, and I feel so fortunate to be a part of the pharmacy profession.

Plain City Druggist will be my first experience with an independent pharmacy. I am looking forward to seeing a different side of community pharmacy, learning more about pharmacy management, and meeting new patients this month. Please say hello if you see me in the store, I would love to get to know you!
