Rabies Vaccinations For Dogs and Cats Being Given Throughout Union County on Sunday, May 22.

On Sunday, May 22, from 1 to 4 pm, you can take your dog or cat to various locations throughout Union County to receive rabies vaccinations for $7. The vaccines can be given to dogs and cats four months of age and older. Those animals under four months will not be vaccinated.

The locations where vaccines will be administered in Union County include:

* Coughlin of Marysville

* Union Township Fire Department

* Northern Union County Fire Department

* Liberty Township Fire Department

Unfortunately, there are no locations in Plain City at this time. Dr. Allen of Pleasant Valley Vet Hospital used to kindly donate his time to give the vaccinations at the fire station here in town, but he was not asked to do that this year.

These instructions are very important to keep in mind before bringing your pet:

1. All dogs must be on a leash and controlled by an adult.

2. Each owner is responsible for the control and conduct of their pet at the clinic.

3. Payment can only be made with cash or a check made payable to the veterinarian on site. No credit cards.

4. The veterinarians, organizations, and volunteers involved in sponsoring and conducting the clinics assume no responsibility for accidents occurring to either animals or people at the clinics.

Additionally, dog licenses will be available at all four locations. This event is being sponsored by Union County veterinarians, the Union County Humane Society, and the Union County Health Department.

Fairbanks FFA Mutt Strutt to Support Union County Humane Society’s Building Campaign.

The Fairbanks FFA will be hosting a 5K Mutt Strutt on Saturday, April 30, from 8 am to 1 pm in Pastime Park (off of North Chillicothe Street) in Plain City. All proceeds from the walk will benefit Union County Humane Society’s H.U.G. (Help Us Grow) Campaign. All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccines and on a leash. Any aggressive dogs will be asked to leave.

Registration for the walk begins between 8-9 am with a welcome at 9:30 am. The walk will begin at 10. At 11:30 am there will be a “Rescue Runway” show of dogs that are available for adoption. At 12 pm a dog costume contest will feature categories including Cutest, Seasonal, and Down on the Farm. The cost to enter the costume contest is $5 and prizes will be awarded to the winners. A trade show of vendors will be open from 8 am to 1 pm.

The donation to walk is $35 per person.

The Fairbanks FFA is also looking for sponsors and vendors. A Puppy Sponsorship is $50 and gets you vendor space. A Best Friend Sponsorship is $75 and gets you vendor space, as well as advertisement on posters. A Best in Show Sponsorship is $100 and with that you will receive vendor space and a listing on t-shirts.

Join the Union County Humane Society on Saturday, March 19, for Top Hat and Tails.

On Saturday, March 19, the Union County Humane Society will celebrate “Top Hat and Tails,” their annual fancy dinner and auction. Tickets are $50 and you can reserve your seat by emailing Executive Director, Steffen Baldwin, at steffen@uchspets.org. The gala, which is in it’s 7th year, will run from 6-9 pm at “The Armory” in Marysville, 1150 Charles Lane, behind the Union County YMCA.

Since the gala this year is closer to St. Patrick’s Day than Valentine’s, there will be a traditional bag-pipe band playing through social hour, which begins at 6 pm. Dinner and awards are at 7 pm. There will also be GREEN BEER!

Der Dutchman is catering the dinner. There will be a silent auction, as well as a raffle.

Additionally, you can also donate to the humane society’s online auction, which runs from March 4-18, become a gala sponsor, or view all of the current auction items by clicking HERE.
