We want to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day and we also want to wish our parents, Bob and Roberta Timmons, a Happy Anniversary. Only a few more years until the BIG 50!

PetSmart is hosting their “Second Chance for Love” National Adoption Weekend from Friday, February 11 to Sunday February 13 just in time for Valentine’s Day. With every pet adopted, new adopters will receive a FREE bag of Purina Pro Plan food and a FREE 20 pound jug of Tidy Cat Scoop litter (for cat adoptions). Black and Orange Cat Foundation will be participating at the PetSmart on Sawmill Road on Sunday from 12-4 pm, so stop in and fall in love with one of our adorable cats.

Der Dutchman Restaurant will be featuring a “Valentine’s Day Dinner Buffet” on Valentine’s Day. The cost is $20 per couple and includes two buffets, two desserts, and two beverages. To find out more, visit their web site HERE.

If you want to celebrate with your sweetie the Saturday after Valentine’s Day (since the actual day is on Monday this year), Eldchrist Winery is celebrating a “Belated Valentine Date Night” on Saturday, February 19 from 7-10 pm. There will be live music by local band, 2nd Story Acoustic, food, and, of course, wine. Tickets are $80 per couple and you can buy your tickets at Eldchrist. Is your sweetie an Alder fan? In that case, you need to get into Mainstreet Treasures on February 11 and 12 for their Alder spirit wear sale just in time for Valentine’s Day. During this limited two day sale, you can get the lowest prices ever offered on Alder clothing, including 40% off all in-stock hoodies, all in-stock windshirts ($25 and up), all sweatpants ($14 and up), and all fleece jackets ($24 and up). Forty percent off on all these items!!! But it only lasts two days, so mark your calendars.

Mainstreet Treasures is open 10 am to 7 pm on Friday the 11th and 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday the 12th.

Additionally, Mainstreet Treasures is also making FREE local deliveries of candy, gifts, and balloons for Valentine’s Day. There is a minimum order required, but we are sure that you will be spending big for your Valentine and that will not be a problem!

Mainstreet Treasures, located at 150 West Main Street in downtown Plain City, has several unique shopping events coming up to put you in the holiday mood.

First off is the “Mystery Candy Bar Savings Event” on Black Friday, November 26. Stop in the store between 10 am and 4 pm and unwrap your candy bar to see how much you can save! Savings range from 10-40% off your entire purchase. You also get to keep the candy bar. There’s nothing better than combining candy and shopping!

On Tuesday, November 30, join Eldchrist Winery and Mainstreet Treasures for “Ladies’ Night” at the Winery from 6-9 pm. Eldchrist Winery is located at 8189 State Route 736 in Plain City. Pampered Chef and Essential Oils consultants will also be on hand to join in on the fun, prizes, and shopping.

Shop and Lunch with Mainstreet Treasures on Friday, December 3 from 11 am to 2 pm. Have lunch and earn a spin on the Prize Wheel for purchases of $25 or more. There will be tons of great prizes on the wheel.

Finally, join Mainstreet Treasures for their Open House during Christmas Under the Clock on Saturday, December 4! The tree lighting begins at 5 pm and Open Houses in area businesses will get under way at 5:30 pm.

Mainstreet Treasures is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. They are closed on Sundays.

Eldchrist Winery, located at 8189 State Route 736 in Plain City, has kindly agreed to host a Fall CAT-illion to benefit Black and Orange Cat Foundation on Saturday, November 6 from 7-11 pm (there is no OSU football game that day, so no reason to hold back). Tickets for the CAT-illion are now available. 

As many of you know, Black and Orange Cat Foundation is a charity that is very near and dear to my heart. My sister and I started the organization in 2006 to raise money to help spay and neuter Plain City area cats. Our good friend, Carol Gaul, joined in and soon our group was helping cats in Madison and Union Counties. 

Tickets for this fundraiser are $40 per person or $75 for a couple. Included in the ticket price are unlimited wine by the glass, soft drinks, coffee, and tea, as well as hors d’oeuvres and entertainment by local musicians, 2nd Story Acoustic.

Since the Winery cats, B and Mittens, are white, the hors d’oeuvres will feature a white theme: a gourmet mashed potato bar, white pizza, white cheeses and crackers, white gourmet cookies, and a white chocolate fondue with fruits for dipping.

B and Mittens are the kitties that are featured on the label of Kitten’s Kiss Wine. These two went through a Black and Orange clinic to get neutered and vaccinated. Thus, to thank Black and Orange, the Winery has graciously offered to conduct this classy fundraiser. Don’t forget, B and O also gets a portion of the proceeds from each bottle of Kitten’s Kiss wine sold. 

Here are other exciting things happening at the CAT-illion:

Christmas items: Besides everything that Eldchrist Winery has planned, Black and Orange Cat Foundation also plans to have homemade Christmas gift items, cards, and baskets for sale during the event, as well as pet themed items and B and O t-shirts.

Tarot Card Readings: Additionally, a good friend of ours, Libby Sparks, wife of Ernie Sparks, who donated the Mini Cooper to B and O, will do tarot card readings for a donation. She is planning to spend about 15 minutes per person and felt a $15 donation would be suitable for her time. 

Mini-Massages: Jeremy Blanton (our cousin) and Heidi Boles (our soon-to-be cousin–we hope!), both licensed massage therapists, will be offering five to ten minute mini neck and shoulder massages for a donation, as well. 

Silent Auction: There are four 1-Day Park Hopper tickets for Walt Disney World in Florida available. These were donated to B and O by Walt Disney theme parks. These tickets, valued at $136 per pass or $544 for all four tickets, will be auctioned off in a silent auction.

Mini Cooper Raffle: Black and Orange Cat Foundation is also raffling off a 2003 Mini Cooper S car. The car will be available to look at during the Winery event. Tickets are $50 and the group is selling a minimum of 200 tickets to help them raise money. A drawing will be held for the car on December 15 if 200 tickets have been sold. You can buy your raffle tickets the night of the event or stop in the pharmacy for more info and to purchase a ticket.

Black and Orange Cat Foundation and all those in attendance plan to have a lot of fun, so if you want to come, get your tickets now. The Winery can only hold 50 people per fire code, so Eldchrist will be selling around 50 tickets for the evening. If you would like tickets, you can purchase them by credit card by calling the Winery at (614) 874-6240. You can also stop in while they are open on Fridays from 6 pm to 9 pm and Saturdays from 2 pm to 8 pm.  

Additionally, we have tickets for sale for the Fall CAT-illion. Just stop by the pharmacy when we are open. Eldchrist Winery will also have some tickets available to purchase at the door the night of the event.

Eldchrist Winery will release their new Covered Bridge Wine at a Kickoff dinner at Old Town Inn in Marysville on Tuesday, August 24, between 5:30-8 pm. The wine is being released in preparation for the upcoming Union County Covered Bridge Festival on Saturday, September 11.
