Happy Birthday to Our Dad, Bob Timmons, Our Little Cousin, Lucy, and Our Aunt Bonnie Winters on Wednesday, November 2.

We want to wish a very happy birthday to our dad, Bob Timmons, on Wednesday, November 2–and that’s no joke (although, he and Joe are joking around in the above photo).

We’d also like to wish our Aunt Bonnie in New Mexico a very happy birthday on the same day. Aunt Bonnie’s daughter, April, just recently had a baby girl, so Aunt Bonnie is enjoying her new grand baby.

Our little cousin, Lucy Blanton, is turning a great big two this year on November 2!

As November arrives each year, we are also thinking about our good friend, Richard Murray, who would have celebrated his 90th birthday this year on November 4. Richard, we love and miss you.

Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, COAAA, Asks, “Do You Know a Dynamic and Dedicated Senior?”

The Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, COAAA, is currently seeking nominees for their Central Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. The next induction ceremony and reception will be held on Wednesday, May 18, in Columbus. Inductees receive a lapel pin, a framed portrait from a professional photographer, and a personal recognition on stage from county commissioners, followed by a catered reception with family and friends.

We have nominated or helped nominate three people from Madison County for the Hall of Fame: Paul Carpenter, our former delivery driver and good friend (2001); Richard “The Captain” Murray, Christmas decorator extraordinaire and husband to Ann, who has worked for the drugstore almost from the beginning (2005); and Mary Mitchell, a lady who can do just about anything she sets her mind to (2008). Mary is featured in the above photo, seated second from the left.

If you know someone who is over the age of 60 and has made significant contributions to their community, COAAA wants to know about them. Any individual or organization may nominate a resident of Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway, or Union County. The person must be 60 years of age or older and a legal resident of Ohio for the past five years. A married couple can also be nominated if they are both equally involved in the same activities and both meet the eligibility requirements.

You can request a nomination form by contacting Bonnie Ackerman, Hall of Fame Coordinator for COAAA, at 614-645-6149 or 1-800-589-7277.  You can also download an application from the COAAA’s web site HERE.

The Deadline for nominations is March 10, 2011.

Happy Birthday on November 4 to The Captain!

This is a very important week for birthdays. First we had several important people born on November 2 and now we have a birthday on November 4 that CANNOT be forgotten.

November 4 is the birthday of our beloved Captain, aka Richard Murray. Richard and I have a little game where he calls me “The Boss” and I call him, “The Captain.”

Richard is another one of those people who will do anything for me and Joe and Plain City Druggist. He has spent countless hours putting up Christmas lights, fixing cupboards and toilets, and taking us out in his boat on Lake Erie.

We hope Richard will have a wonderful day doing all the things he enjoys–working in his puzzle books, watching old cowboy movies, and taking his red headed Texan wife out for a dinner at Ann and Tony’s in West Jefferson.

Happy Birthday to The Captain. May you have many, many more days at sea! We love you. (The photo below is a rare picture of Richard when he was just a “baby angel”–even then he was keeping track of those fish!)
