Plain City Lions Club Annual Auction and Dinner is Thursday, April 28 at 6:30 pm.

Save the Date!!! April 28 will be here soon!

We always know spring is here when the Plain City Lions Club auction finally arrives. This year, those fun-loving Lions are hoping you’ll join them the last Thursday of the month and raise money for their many, many service projects and local charities. This auction, which is filled with jokes and teasing along with tons of super buys, always leaves people with full bellies, giant smiles, and empty wallets (people bid often to help support a good cause!).

You can bid on several great items at the auction including: Four Michelin tires donated by Schrock Automotive, one skid of water softener salt donated by ASE Feed and Supply, a Stihl leaf blower donated by Hilliard Lawn and Garden, a Lake Erie perch dinner for the lucky buyer and twelve other family members and friends (courtesy of Captain and Lion Roger Weeks and his wife, Ann), four tires up to a $450 value by E & R Tires Plus, a wooden American Flag hand carved and donated by Lion Perry Beachy, and an Adirondack Chair donated by Yutzy’s Farm Market.

The Lions Club Annual Dinner and Auction will be held on Thursday, April 28, in the Banquet room at Der Dutchman Restaurant in Plain City at 6:30 pm.

Tickets are $16, which includes a family style dinner and entry to the auction. The meal will be served at 6:30 pm. Doors open at 6 pm.

Tickets can be purchased at True Value Hardware (see Lion Perry Yoder) or here at the pharmacy (see Joe). The auctioneers this year are Geoff Smith, Frank Roby, Dan Westlake, and Jay Kurtz.

Stop in the pharmacy as soon as possible and buy your tickets! You will have a roaring good time!

Seeking Photos of Five Generations of Families.

IMG_3417

Joe and I were recently wondering how many fifth generation families there are in the Plain City area. We started contemplating this idea after printing out a photo for our dear friend, Ann Murray, that showed her with her four generations of family (the photo you see above).

Four generations are a bit easier to find. I can think of several families in the area who have four generations gathering for holidays and reunions. Nicky Mayer and Ruth Weeks both share four generations with Roger and Ann Weeks and their children and grandchildren. Barb and Steve Golden can both produce photos of four generations of family.

Five generations, however, are a little harder to locate.

So that is where you come in. Do you have a photo that shows five generations of your family? If you do, would you mind submitting it to joenrobincraft@gmail.com?

If the photo is an older one that you don’t have on your phone or your computer, just take a picture and email that picture of the photo to us. We’d like to see photos of five generations with all of the family currently living. But if you have historical photos of your families showing past reunions or holidays where five generations are gathered and some of those family members are no longer with us, we’d like to see those, too.

We’ll post all the photos on Facebook, so please include the last names of each generation (if they differ). We’ll also choose our favorite photo and the person who submitted it will get a $50 gift certificate to the pharmacy and a framed photo of their five generations of family.

We can’t wait to see how many fifth generation families exist in Plain City and the surrounding areas.

What Do These Three People Have in Common?

What do Dr. Steve Tornik, Albert Einstein, and Ron Winn, Senior all have in common?

They are celebrating birthdays on March 14.

Please take the time to wish Dr. Steve and Ron a happy, happy day!

March 14, as some of you may know, is also Pi Day (Pi equals 3.14159…, but mathematicians round to 3.14 for this day).

March 14 is also the birthday of Albert Einstein.

Dr. Tornik and Ron are in fine company with geniuses and mathematicians on this day! We wish them both an infinite amount of happiness!
