Plain City Historical Society’s 2011 Calendars Make Nice Stocking Stuffers!

The Plain City Historical Society’s 2011 “Souvenir” calendars are now available here at the pharmacy for $5 (which, we have to say, we think is a super bargain). The calendar features photos of former Plain City residents who have made a difference in the history of our small town.

For example, November features “The Chapmans” with a photo of “Linnie” Wing Chapman, Linnie’s brother, George Wing of Worthington, Ohio, and George Chapman.

The calendar tells us that “George had a grocery store in the early 1900’s, then became the first Ford Dealer in Plain City. The dealership still exists today but has relocated to Marysville, Ohio. This photo was taken in front of the Chapman home on North Chillicothe in the 1940’s.”

You can also purchase calendars, decks of playing cards ($10), and the “25th Anniversary Cookbook, 1982-2007” ($10–only eight copies remain at the drugstore) at the Plain City Historical Society (and here at Plain City Druggist) located at 111 West Main Street next to Security Bank (formerly Citizens/Farmer’s). The Historical Society is open Tuesdays from 10 am to noon, Thursdays from noon to 3 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am to noon.

The calendars and all of the other gift items produced by the Historical Society come wrapped in memories for former and current Plain City residents. So stop in and get yours now. Not only are you purchasing a “classy” gift for someone on your list, you are also helping to support the work of the Plain City Historical Society.

To find out more, visit the Plain City Historical Society’s web site and become their fan on Facebook (hey, they might deal with history, but they are still “hip” to new trends!).
