Der Dutchman’s Heritage Days Celebrate Amish History on Saturday, May 20 from 10 am to 5 pm.

On Saturday, May 20, Der Dutchman Restaurant will present Der Dutchman Heritage Days.

For the second year in a row, attend a hog roast and concert on Friday, May 19 with the full meal at 6:30 pm including meat (carved on site), corn pudding, baked beans, beverage, and dessert. There will also be entertainment from musician John Schmid and Liberated singing gospel songs, Johnny Cash hits, and more. The concert and meal are $15 per person, $10 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for those 5 and under.

The main event on Saturday, which will run from 10 am to 5 pm at 445 South Jefferson Avenue (next to Der Dutchman Restaurant), will feature displays and products commonly seen in our area in the past. An emphasis will be on the Amish culture in Plain City with demonstrations on broom making, woodcrafting, blacksmithing, glass blowing, and more. There will also be plenty of food and activities for children.

An All-Horse Parade will take place at 10 am. Don’t miss it.

Additionally, beginning at 1 pm, you can get a feel for vintage baseball when The Ohio Village Muffins baseball team takes on a team, the Longjohns, representing Der Dutchman. View the Muffins’ 2017 schedule HERE.

There will also be a musical concert by Clear Run featuring gospel songs, oldies, and lots of other favorite tunes. Clear Run will be playing from 12-5 pm.

After the pharmacy closes at noon on Saturday, parking for Heritage Days will be available in our parking lot, which is just across the street from the event.

Mainstreet Treasures 2nd Annual Postcard Contest.

Mainstreet Treasures is hosting their 2nd Annual Postcard Contest, which asks entrants to show “what makes Plain City special?”

Budding artists and photographers should drop their entries off (or postmark their mailed entries) by April 22 to Mainstreet Treasures at 150 West Main Street in Plain City.

The contest features a Youth (under 18 years) and an Adult division, with at least one winner chosen from each division. A total of four winners will be picked and announced during Heritage Days in Plain City on May 21, 2011. As done previously, the winning postcards will be printed and sold at Mainstreet Treasures beginning on May 21. The winners will also receive a framed display of their postcard.

This year, there will also be a People’s Choice Award. Stop in Mainstreet Treasures to find out how you can vote for your favorite entry.

The entries must contain original artwork or a photograph and one line of text. Entries should show the unique qualities of Plain City and what makes our town such a great place to call home. Please no pencil drawings. Entries must be no larger than 8 1/2″x11″ and no smaller than 4″x6″.

For the complete postcard guidelines, please visit the Mainstreet Treasures contest page HERE
